Hey guys, I tried converting a DivX movie to DVD Video to watch it in my stand-alone DVD player. I burned it to a DVD+RW and it stops at 00:00:03. I thought it was OK, same thing happened a few days ago while burning a MP3 CD-RW, I erased it, burned again and all was ok. But the DVD won't erase now, as it replies with a "Illegal Disc" error message. My VAIO laptop replies with the same.
If the disc is an 8X DVD+RW, you are out of luck. The Sony DRU-700 cannot record to these media. However, if it is a 4X disc, open Nero to recording a data DVD and select "Recorder/Erase Rewritable Disc" from the choices in the upper bar. Erase the disc completely in order to erase the address information also.
On the next try, simulate the recording process to see if the files are correct. Simulation goes through the process without writing anything to the disc. If it all goes well, then try a real writing session to see if that works. You should be able to recover the disc if it is 2.4X or 4X, but not if it is an 8X medium.
