I've got a DVD with 6 half hour episodes. I want to put 2 episodes on each svcd, but don't have a clue how. Do I rip the episodes from DVD as usual? Can I have a menu to select which of the 2 shows on the disc i want to play? I need the end result to be compatible on a standalone dvd player.
someone help... please! I only have the dvd for another 3 days.

1. Rip as you normally would
2. Provided 2 episodes fit on a cd, just add them as you normally would. You can add menus and stuff if you want also.

Thats what i want to do, but it doesn't mention how to add menus in any of the guides - can i do it using DVD2SVCD? Can i still add chapter points to each of the programmes as usual? Bear in mind it still has to be compatible with standalone dvd players.
A little more help please? I'm half newbie to this game.
thanx for prompt response tho!

1. Rip the DVDs chapter by chapter (or to save yourself work, 2 chapters at a time), something like DVDx can do that simple :-) Rip it straifght to SVCD. If you can do this then all you need to do is burn an SVCD as usual
2. Assuming now u have 6 files, just fire up Nero, select SVCD, drag and drop the first one, drag and drop the 2nd one.
3. If you want menus, again in Nero, when you have added both sections, click the Burn Compilation button BUT before you click Burn, goto the tab that says Menu and check "Enable Menu" you can play around with the settings and such too.

that's beautiful mate, thanks a lot, i'll let you know how i get on. altho i have a sneakin suspicion that my Nero (version 5) doesn't allow me to do such things, esp. with svcds. do i need a plugin (where from?) or a newer version (what number?)

OK, this is what i've found. Nero is the best for making menus, but doesn't let you use chapter points. VCDeasy allows chapter points, but i've had no luck creating menus.
is there any program i can use to combine good menus (where you can choose which mpeg to play) and add chapter points??
cheers,

Hope it helps.

ok, so i downloaded dvd movie factory, and it all works as i wanted (muchos thanx to DMW). however, i'm a picky git, and it doesn't seem to let you skip chapters using the chapter forward/back buttons, only by using the number pad. i'm sure vcdeasy lets you do this?
any way round it in dvd movie factory?
