does anyone use an uninteruptable pwer supply if so which is the best?
and cost comes to mind cos I need them for the shop and we have 6 pc's in the cafe
they don't have to last a long time just give us time to shut down the pc's if it's not just a short power cut
we had five very short cuts yesterday

Here are some I would buy.
These have AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation), which prtects against brown outs.
You may not want to go that far, but these mfg all make good UPS.

I prefer APC brand. You can hook them up to your PC ports to automatically shut down the PC when the battery gets to low in a power outage. Im sure that feature is available on most UPS. Of course the longer the battery lasts the more it costs. If using CRT monitors get one rated at at least 30 minutes. should give you 15 min to shut down (using CRT). Remember do not plug a laser printer into them. That will cause a power strain on the UPS and shut it down.

Thats about $81 USD. The led acid battery is a plus. You wont have to deal with the NiCD "Memory" problem. I see it will hook up to PC by USB. So you can set windows to shut down if battery gets to low.

Looks good to me. Don't expect the ful 20 min if using a CRT monitor.
