I heard u can connect your laptop 2 the internet using your mobile phone anywhere. well, whatabout your ds, can u connect to wi-fi anywhere if u have a good enough mobile??? and also what does that hidden button for in the top left corner in the Wi-Fi connection settings 4? If u have no idea what i am talking about, go to the wi-fi settings then pick a connection, 1 2 or 3 then tap the VERY TOP LEFT of the touch screen.

Yes, if you go to a local free hotspot at McDonald's or Starbucks or where ever I think you should be able to connect.

You will need to set it up in the connection part in the wifi settings.

I heard that people use their laptops in public using their mobile phone as a wireless modem,
So instead of using a Nintendo Buffolo Wi-Fi adaptor i want to use a mobile instead
thx

You can use something like a LaptopConnect card on a lap top to connect to the Net, but I haven't seen anything like that which would punch into the GBA slot on a DS.

That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just that I haven't seen it.

have you tried using the mobile phone as a modem for your laptop?? ive never heard of that, but im not sure if its also not true. if it works for a laptop and acts as an access point or hotspot for the laptop, then it SHOULD work for the ds. i have not tested it so im just assuming it would

not possible. the mobile phone is connected to the laptop via usb cable. the mobile phone acts as a modem.

oh, i did not know the phone would be connected to the laptop while it was acting as a modem.

i guess it wouldnt work unless MAYBE, the phone had a mini-usb jack, you get a mini-usb jack adapter for a normal usb, then get a usb adapter for the nintendo ds lite charger (which is both found in dealextreme). wonder if that'll work..but i doubt the phone as a modem for the ds would work at all.

some phones accept mini-usb, but the trouble would be getting the ds to accept the phone. you'd need to install drivers and programs.

I think you would have more luck going the other way. Use a card to connect a lap top to the net, and then use the DS's wireless to connect to the laptop. You'd have to get something that would make the lap top essentially turn into a wireless access point for the DS.

Let the lap top do the heavy lifting in terms of sorting out the connection and finding the Net.

I can see it now:

Scene- Open grassy field in the middle of nowhere. Sunshine everywhere.

[Enter Dragnandy with carrying case.]

Dragnandy: Ah this looks like just the spot.

[Opens case. Takes out huge solar cell, lap top, satellite phone, cables, cards, DS, small solar cell, and cold beverage. Plugs large solar cell into laptop, fires it up, hooks up satellite phone, hooks up wireless access point, fires up solar powered DS. Kicks off Animal Crossing. Takes drink.]

Dragnandy: Let's see how my little friends are today.

Fade out.

About as long as it took to type it.

No offense intended- it was supposed to be funny.

Apparently misread your sense of humor. Apologies. Have it locked in now.
