hi there,

got my nephews ds lite the other day, and the case is broken..
are they easy enuff to fix, or are we better of getting him a new one.

The right button is where its broken. Its been taped up and everything works fine, but he cant use the R button.

Just wondering if anyone has experience of fixing/changing the casing, and how difficult it is?

thanks for reading.

you can replace the housing on the nds lite at dealextreme.com they sell the housings and the screw driver for it. it should be relatively easy to replace the nds shell, ive replaced shells for my phone and it didnt seem that hard, and i doubt the nds lite would be any harder.

there are white, black, and pink colors there. if your nephew wants a different color, this would be a good opportunity.

Replacing the DS Lite case is more complicated than most devices in my experience, but if you have patience, keep track of what goes where and are careful it is a relativly easy process. It is likly to take a good hour to an hour and a half of your time to do.

As dragnandy said you can get get replacement cases from DealExtreme, i think Divineo also sell some 3rd party cases of various colours, though I'm not sure how the prices compare to DX.

hello mate , last week i changed the shell of my daughters nds old version because of a snapped hinge .
i have to admit before starting i had a good read of any tutorials and videos fron youtube to give me an idea of what goes where .
i did buy the replacement shell from dealextreme and the quality of the new shell was very good.
replacing the shell isnt hard you just need a lot of patience and time as some of the components are quite small and fiddly .
as mr_hanky says just make sure you remember what goes where .

this link may be of help to you - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vRzTgfo2PsM
