It seems no matter what media type i put in my drive my burner will only burn dvd+rs at ~1x and dvd-r at about ~2x. I have tried fujifilm and memorex discs (the fujifilm 2.4x -R the Memorex was 4x +R and -R). WTF.

Well you mean that you select to write at 4x with your burning program and it burns at 1x? Have you noticed the buffer getting empty and then the burn to stop until it get full again? If yes then you have a problem with your hard drive.

You probably need to enable DMA.

primary DMA and secondary DMA are enabled if availabe.

the buffer remain full.
