The flick is THEY. Copied the entire disc since it's relatively small. Ripped it with DVD Decrypter in file mode, then compressed it with DVD2One and burnt it with Nero6. When I tried to play the movie on my standalone via the main menu, it cycled thru the beginning of each chapter in 3 second increments. The scene selection menu did the same thing, but the other menu choices did nuttin at all. I used this same technique on Signs and Nemo and both turned out perfect. Just wondering if this is common, and what may have caused it.

Could be your media as most DVD discs have slight variations between them.
Nero could of had a buffer under-run or a dodgy packet etc.
You also might of had programs runing in the background or if you were using the PC while it was burning (Multi-tasking).
Lots of things really!

DVDshrink worked great on that movie for me. You should try it out. I used to use the methods you are describing. I got alot of random coasters and errors on my disks while playing them. No more since I started using DVDshrink. thanks

Thanks for the input. I'm gonna try it again...using the same technique...only using rw media. If it repeats the same problem, I'll make some changes and see how it turns out.
I never multitask when ripping, converting, compressing or burning. I don't touch the puter until it's done.
I've used the same media and the same software to do dozens of backups without a single issue that wasn't my fault. However I know that sometimes u can get a bad disc now and then with even the best brand. It might have been a fluke....a one time issue. We shall see.

The VIDEO_TS.IFO was not processed properly.....
I used to encounter this when I started out using IFOEdit......I think it is something to do with the VIDEO_TS.IFO pointing to data that is not there and has not been rewritten to match up with the present data.....cannot remember exactly.....
Of course I maybe wrong OR not explaining it too well.....

Did you rip the FULL disc and process in DVD2One under full disc OR did you just rip the main movie.....
Ahhhhh, just remembered what happened all those moons ago.........
I ripped just the movie BUT included the original VIDEO_TS.ifo file and bup....then ran it through IFOEdit....
Stripped audio/subtitles etc BUT did not rewrite the VIDEO_TS.ifo, now as this contains the menu info etc...that is why it skipped through everything....
If you just load up the complete files in powerdvd - it should do the same thing....
Rip it again - just the movie and then process, should go through ok then....

I ripped the full disc with decrypter in file mode, then processed the full disc with DVD2One in full disc mode.
My powerdvd issue is another problem I have. Since I installed my samsung combo cdrw/dvd-rom, neither powerdvd or wmp will play any dvd on it, or on my other drive. Powerdvd sez there is some fault, and accuses me of trying to play a non-region 1 dvd, and wmp just wigs out and freezes. I downloaded and installed WinDVD, and it plays perfectly.
I didn't install any software with my samsung...so I have no idea why it'd cause my 2 players to freak. O well....off topic I spose.
