You can also make changes within Azureus itself. See, Good Settings Also see Port is Blacklisted for info on selecting a good port for Azureus.
You should probably check and see if your router is listed at Bad Routers as this may affect some of your internal Azureus settings.
And you should check to see if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is listed at Bad ISPs
Quote:What is the deal with seeding? Do the clients keep track of how much you seed and your download speeds are based on that?
Seeding is what keeps bittorrent going. There is no central server, people are sharing with each other.
Basically, you were able to get the file because someone else stayed to seed back and if you do the same the torrent will stay alive.
The clients do keep track, but that is just for your own information.
Private trackers will watch your ratio and restrict your downloading if you "leech" (download without giving back).
Quote:Is Azureus one of the better clients or are there others that would be better suited for Vista?
Azureus and uTorrent are the two biggest.
uTorrent is smaller and easier on system resources.
Azureus has more options and plugins, but uses more resources.
Personally, I prefer Azureus, but I also have uTorrent and have no complaints about it.
I know it looks like a bunch, but most of it should go very quick.
