Nero 7 updates ?

Hi Everybody,
My Nero 7 product center update check showed about 7 available updates of Nero 7 applications, including Burning Rom, BackItUp, Nero Vision Express and a few more apps.
But when I checked for Nero 7 updates, on the Nero homepage, the last update was dated last July. which I have.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue ?

Latest version of Nero 7 is 7.10.1.0
Updates ARE available as it said but they want you to upgrade (and pay ) for Nero 8

Hi Guyy,
probably it may be called "not an official nero version" because it wasn't at Nero site then and it is not there now ... but can you, please tell me what kind of "unofficial steps" I went through in described situation so some kida "private"??? version was offered by official Nero Update procedure?

In addition to what I wrote in my several posts - below is an answer from Nero Support I received.
So, you shouldn't accuse anybody before doing some research...You wrote:

but I will repeat that despite v7.10 1.2 "does not contain any special changes or features..." (see below) it will break the ability to burn... duno what else it may stuff-up

This version 7.10.1.2 is an OEM version, being the case it will NOT have all the features that 7.10.1.0 has (as a FULL version) and being an OEM version it would NOT appear on the Nero site as a "Newer version" for updates......it is used as a package with burners....so what Guyy has stated is in a way correct...you will NOT find it on the Nero site.

I know that and stated that several times

That is not what Nero Support wrote in their reply.
The result:
No new features - Yes. New desktop icon "Upgrade to Nero 8" - Yes. Not working version as I found - Yes again.
3)"..."Newer version" for updates.." but it was offered by Nero when I choose Update from Nero GUI...stated by me several times too
4)that's why in addition to my few posts here I e-mailed Nero support. Unfortunately as you see from there answer the only thing they did not answer was why it came as an update here and why it is faulty.

So if it is not on Nero site as it was established before my very first request here - from what site NERO itself was downloading that crap and performing legit update procedure?... from "one of those sites.."?

yep, i've just seen both Nero Micro v7.10.1.2 and Nero Lite v7.10.1.2
released on afterdawn's homepage.
In which case they can't be pirated versions as i incorrectly stated above.

Oh no, it wasn't an accusation but an incorrect statement. I read both your threads about version 7.10.1.2 and, as a software enthusiast, i went searching for it but i could only find it on those dodgy websites. Hence, my piracy comment.

Next day I tried to append some data to Verbatim CDs I used many times (photos archives & stuff).
As soon as Create Data CD was chosen the computer froze ? no keyboard/no mouse. Only Reset helps. It was replicable. The only difference was that sometimes (3 of ~9) attempts Nero could read Disks but then would choke at the beginning of writing.
Suspecting that canceled download broke something I went through AutoUpdate again. Silly me!
This time v7.10.1.2 was "successfully" installed (forget about all media associations were hijacked again!). But the worth thing ? I could not write Multisession CDs.
Several Clean reinstalls (using Nero?s Tool) of 7.10.1.0 was performed to no avail.
Nero burning capability ? gone!
Any suggestions, Guys?
And why in Hell there is no v7.10.1.2 to download from Nero?
What nero version did you try to update from?
And was it an Ultra/Premium or Essential edition?
And , without insinuating anything, did you buy your nero seperately or did it come bundled with a dvd writer that you bought?

If yes, that would then explain why nero update gave you nero 7.10.1.2 and that would also explain why you have unsuccessfully tried to install the full featured nero 7.10.1.0 found on nero's website.

First of all I've seen couple of your latest posts.
Everything is cool now and deck is cleared I hope.. it was just the first remark of yours, which made me "slightly uncomfortable" All fine now :-)
Returning to your last questions & update...
Premium it is
Not bundled with DVD-writer
Bought separately in a box
All previous updated of v7 series were performed until v7.10.1.0 as I stated. Yes all updates were made as Clean Uninstall / Full Clean reinstall because Auto Update never worked and never will :-) ...but out of curiosity I've tried few times (Silly me).
Since you are familiar with my posts I happened to be silly again... and that 7.10.1.2 came as an official update for 7.10.1.0
But now I will tell you another funny story at the end of this Saga.
I hope it will discard all tension if any (forget about it).
So, ... to be thorough enough I decided to make some screenshots.
I thought - since 7.10.1.0 was reinstalled, I'll go to that freaken <Check for Updates> button and do some screen captures and you Guys, will see. What I am loosing?
I am using another exceptionally good and very free burning Software anyway ... Why wouldn't I break already broken Nero again?
Guess what? ---> "No Updates available". The end of the story....
but the dark mystery remains... Spooooky!

I was able successfully install/reinstall this version already twice (this time not included)
because I found a bug (and workaround as well) In SoundTraX and provided that info to nero support, for which they were grateful... they cannot fix the bug yet but that is another story
