Ok, I've tried just about everything out there to convert my Divx or DVD to SVCD. TMPEG causes the sound to spike and skip and blocks appear in the video from time to time. DVD2SVCD causes no video to appera at tall (I think it's caused by CCE) and all I get is a blank screen with the CCE logo on the bottom. Mainconcept Encoder produces an .mpg2 file that can't be read by MediaPlayer. This is totally ridiculous. Is there anything out there that works? Can someone post a step by step tutorial on coverting DVD/Divx to SVCD?????
TIA.

Hi!

U should experiment with a program for a longer time, or search the web. U can set the parameters of TMPEG, or search the web. CCE is the best encoder, but U still can search the web. The logo is becouse of U use the trial version, U can search the web. Everithing works, U can search the web.

The Problems are odviously with the way you are doing it or the way your system is configured because these are all tried and Trusted methods of encodeing and you shouldn"t have Any problems if done Properly....And you shouldn"t Use Media Player to Play mpeg files, Because MP doesn"t come with a Mpeg2 decoder so it can not Play Mpeg2 files unles you have the decoder installed and it doesn"t not display Mpeg2 files in there correct aspect ratio..You should allways use a software DVD Player Like WinDVD, Or you can throw your Mpeg2 files into DVD2AVI so you can see the Picture....Cheers

Dude I've tried all the "true and tested" methods and the result is always the same. The sound spikes on my standalone DVD player. THe further into the movie, the worse it gets. I've tried CBR's as all VBR's. I don't know what else could be causing it. Right now I'm using CCE-SP and it's not too bad. Still does it just a little bit. I have TMPNG and CCE full versions.

Well you Odviously don"t have the full version of CCE or you wouldn"t have a Logo at the bottom of your Screen, and the "Full" version costs $2000....Well Since I don"t Know exactly what you did so I can"t tell you were you went wrong But I can tell you that if done Properly these Methods are Flawless and work every time..I encoded 8 DivX/XviD movies to Mpeg2 for DVD Last Night useing CCE and they all encoded perfectly

No I have a different version of CCE now and the Logo is gone. It's actually a cracked version and it works fine and all the options are enabled. However I still get the occasional spike in the sound and the picture seems to have quite a few blocks in it every few seconds. It's much better than TMPGEnc but still gives me some probs. Here is some info on my settings.
Athlong XP 2400+
512DDR Ram
2X100GB HD's
GeForce 4 64mb n'vidia
Soundblaster Audigy2

Original DVD in PAL format ripped with DVDRipper

SVCD Settings
Video VBR 3pass, audio 160kbps
MPEG2DEC2.DLL
iCDT MMX SSE
800MB cd's

Can you please post your settings?
thanks

When I make SVCD"s with CCE is Use Lower Quality settings than you and never had a Problem with Blockyness unless I used a Really low bitrate....I would usually Rip the DVD with SmartRipper, then use DVD2AVI to make the D2V project File, then Frame serve the D2V file with AVISynth and Mpeg2Dec.dll with the SimpleResize.dll to resize to SVCD specs...then when in CCE I would use the "One Pass VBR" setting with a Minimum bitrate of 1500kbs and a Max of 3000kbs and the Q Level at 30..(My DVD Player can handle Bitrates over 3000kbs but most can not which can cause audio and Video problems)..And when encodeing Progressive sources you need to select the "Zig Zag" Scanning order and you should select the "Low Bitrate" Matrix and Put the intra Block Precition should be at "10" and add the Progressive Frame Flag cuz Most PAL DVD"s will be Progressive...And The Very Most you will ever fit on a CD-R in SVCD Format is about 50-60 Minutes at the Very Max but 40-45 minutes is ideal for Quality so you will need at least 2 CD-R"s for each Movie but sometimes 3 + CD-R"s..And I don"t use CCE to encode the Audio because it"s audio encoder is not that Good, I would usually Demux the AC3 from the VOB files with DVD2AVI and then use an encoder like "Headac3he" to encode the AC3 to Mpeg1 Layer 2 audio, and after that I would Mux the audio and Video together usually useing Mpeg2VCR but also TMPGEnc and BBMpeg....Well I hope there is something here that you can use that will help....Cheers

Ok, I GOT IT WORKING!!! Finally made a DVD rip and conversion and it came out PERFECT! The 4 pass VBR is what did it I think. I ripped it with SmartRipper and besweet and avisynth were handled by the DVD2SVCD script. Now I'm trying to convert a Divx and all I get is the universal logo throughout the thole video and the whole sound track playing with it. So it's not encoding the Divx properly. But I'll ask about that in the Divx forum. Thanks a million for your help! Cheers.
