First of all Im using dvdr+ to burn movies. I have converted a avi movie to be able to burn with no problems with TMPGENC, I have also used Shink DVD to back up my movies to my hard drive with no problem. My question is how do I go by putting both of those formats on one dvdr+ using nero 6? I know the file that i get from DVDSHRINK go in the folder called video_ts, and I also know where the movie I converted from avi to dvd go. I burned the movie it was a successful burn When I played the dvdr+ on my dvd player it only played the movie in the video_ts folder and not the one I converted. I thought I would get a menu or something giving me a choose what movie to play 1st. Im not sure if Nero 6 will do this.

You will need a Author tool, to author a DVD and create menu's...
DVD video must be in a VIDEO_TS folder.

As antons said, you will need an authoring tool....DVD Shrink is an authoring tool, but can only author, pre-authored movies - using the original info to do it (not from scratch)...

Tmpgenc does a proggy - called TMPGEnc Dvd author...

This can add a simple menu and would probably be your easiest bet....

Goto http://www.chrismccann.co.uk to get a trial version (30 days I think) and a great guide.....

Hope this helps...

baabaa
thank you for your help. I bought The Godfather dvd collection, and I wanted to back them up. For example Part 2 is a 2 disc and I want to put it on a single DVDr+. I know I have to use dvdshrink to compress both parts. But when it comes to burning them I end up with 2 Vedeo_ts folder. Im guessing do i have to change some of the files in the video_ts folder, and if so which ones.

There are 2 ways you can do that...

1. Create the menu etc as suggested so you can select the 2nd disc. (Recommended)

2. Join the 2 together, never done that, but I would assume there would be a sudden change in scene/audio etc....
I have not tried this way but in theroy it can work....

You would have to process movie only and probably cut off the end credits (to produce a reasonable join).....

The theory.....rename the 2nd disc vobs to FOLLOW on form the 1st disc - ie vts_01.5.VOB (last VOB of 1st disc) then vts_01.6.VOB (1st VOB of 2nd disc)....
Then rewrite the IFO's (author it), then run it through DVD Shrink to compress to 4.36Gb...so it would go into ONE VIDEO_TS folder......2 VIDEO_TS folders does not work.....

This should work, but as I said I have never done it....

I think you could also use the 'join' method in DVD2One to do the same thing (and it maybe easier).....

Do not know how good it would turn out but worth looking into.....

I would still recommend the TMPGEnc Dvd Author to create the menu and go down that route....would produce a nice dvd then.....

Hope this helps.....

Do as Baabaa has said, it will work.
There will be no pause at the join between DVD's.

Easiest way is, rip both dvd's to seperate folders.
Copy VOB's from disk 1 to new folder,
Rename disk 2 .VOB files to continue title set.
Note the first .VOB file is a menu type .VOB (think it's vts_01.0.VOB) do not use this if its on the second dvd, just use the remaining .VOB files.
Rename in sequence as Baabaa says and when finished use IFO edit to create the .IFO etc.. files, shrink/process as required.

Note: If you have problems shrinking after joining the files, try going back and shrinking the single dvd's and then join them together as described

hi all

1, Rip both main movies to 2 folders!

2, Take all vobs and rename the second set from the last one of the first folder!

eg:

GGG.01.VOB = 1 gig ...\
GGG.02.VOB = 1 gig ....|<---FIRST SET!
GGG.03.VOB = 500meg? ./

GGG.04.VOB = 1 gig ..\
GGG.05.VOB = 1 gig ...|<---SECOND SET!
GGG.06.VOB = 300meg?./

3, Use IFOEDIT to make/create ifo/bups !

4, DVD Shrink them to 4.36 gig

5, Burn with favourite tool!

put them all in a VIDEO_TS folder!

Thx......

EDIT:

Watch out for that file someone mentioned here "TITLE SET .VOB" you may have to remove those 2 from the 2 folders? just play it in powerDVD to see if its the start of the movie or not?

Also thinking about it i know IFOEDIT will create a set of bup/ifo files but you may need the title set vob? not sure and if you do need the title set .vob then it may not calculate the second batch of files? as it will only read to last vob of first set? but try it it may work?

sorry its been a while!?!

Or you dont have to raname files just add them in one by one to DVD Author! this will make DVD ifo/bups!

Thx..._

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Ok, an easy way to combine two movies to one disc using DVDShrink... http://www.dvdshrink.info/re-author-v3beta5-advanced.php, just remember to rip one movie to disc first.
