What is the best way to exchange large files between a friend or two of mine? I can't email as an attachment because it's too large. Burning to a cd and snailmailing is impractical. There's got to be a way the two of us can connect our computers (like a network over the internet or something) so we can share our files with each other. Are there any programs to do this? Or is it as simple as getting trading our IP addresses and configuring our computers like a regular network?
Ive only tried it with windows live but it might work with gmail or yahoo but im not sure,it does take a while with windows live depending on the file size.
You can also do it with AIM. However, it takes a long time. Just click "Send Photos" and you direct connect with them, and you can send any file (to my knowledge).
How about some sort of free online storage, where I can put the file in a folder and they can d/l it at their leisure? Is there anything out there like that?
There is quite a few online storage places.
MediaFire is free and has no limit on space or downloads.
I use it myself.
The drawback is 100MB per file size limit, so if it is a big file it has to be broken up.
Can I use uTorrent as a private p2p? If so, how would I go about setting it up, and can I separate share folders? Say I have files shared privately that I wouldn't want shared publicly.
GIGATRIBE.com is what you seek my friend you can transfer any size file with them and it's free(the only drawback is the speed about 50 to 100 kbps) but if you pay and upgrade, it would be alot more.
