i have a lot of mpeg-2 files with a dvd player that only does vcds and dvd-rs. I know I can upgrade my player but that is not an option so is there a way to convert svcds to vobs, ifo, bups and would I be able to put like 3 videos on a disc?

OK...Instead of Converting your SVCD"s to DVD you should put the SVCD"s on to DVD as a Non-Standard DVD, This way you will not loose any Video Quality..I backed up my whole SVCD collection to DVD This way and all of them play Perfectly on all of my DVD Players...The only thing that will have to be converted is the Audio, which for DVD has to be 48000hz...The Best and Probably only Program that will Put your SVCD/Mpeg2 files on to DVD is called "DVD-Lab" (http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/) there is a Free 30 day full working demo for download...You will have to Author the SVCD"s to DVD then same way you would author any DVD..You will have to set up the Menu"s and Make Chapters and Button Links to the chapters and menu"s and do scene selection menu"s and all the regular stuff you do when authoring a DVD...This method should allow you to get Up to a Max of 3 full SVCD movies on a DVD-R...Good Luck....Cheers

Yes it should work In allmost all DVD Players, My Brother has a Panasonic DVD Player that doesn"t Play SVCD"s but it does play SVCD"s on DVD without a Problem and DVD-Lab has 2 Ways to author SVCD"s to DVD, One way authors the Files as a 720+480 DVD but with 480+480 files which did not work as well on my DVD Player and the other setting authors the DVD as a 480+480 DVD which the Program says is less compatible but was most compatible with my dvd Player..This setting is in the Project settings...You are better off at least trying this method because this method will allow you to get up to 3 Full SVCD Movies on a DVD with No Quality loss But if you re-encode the Files to DVD Specs you will only be able to get one Movie on a DVD-R and you will Loose a LOT of the Quality, a Lot more than you think because you will loose Quality from Re-encodeing and you will Loose even More from resizeing the resolution from 480+480 to 720+480....So It is worth doing and will save a Lot of Trouble ....Cheers

Tmpgenc DVD Author Does Not Support SVCD on DVD unless you Patch the headers which is a Hassle and DVD-Lab is Twice the Program as TMPGEnc DVD......

Svcd's on a dvd-r may not work in everyone's player

Minion you must have a machine that reads anything you throw at it. LOL

bigntasty- if you try minions method and it doesn't work look into the VCD header trick
