i tried several times the codes produced by Nokia Free Unlocker. All the times they were Code Error.
today I tried once again and I got the message "Cannot undo restriction".
my IMEI is: 353372002991350
locked by Cingular, USA
and I used code 7 and 1 from this list:

and one more question: does anyone know - if I change the firware for 6230b with the firmware from 6230, can I get GSM 900 instead of GSM850?

Your Phone is hardlocked.
It will only work on Cingular.
Your phone is a Tri-band phone.
850/1900/1800Mhz.
That cannot be changed by software.
It would cost too much to modify the hardware.
The only way to get the phone unlocked would be to take or send it to a professional unlocker.

The hardware used to unlock the phone is called a DCT 4 clip and they usually cost in between US$200.00 to US$400.00.
