Okay I am having problems with both versions of Nero.
Originally I had Nero 7 on my system, however my system crashed, so I decided when I redid the system I would get the newest Nero. So I put Nero 8 on here. Everything seemed to be fine. I am also using DVD Shrink. So before nothing was ever the problem. Nero 8 burns the dvd just fine, but when I go to play it in my DVD player, it wont play. It will play on my computer but thats it. I am using the same blank dvd-rs I was before.
So thinking it was Nero 8, I uninstalled it and put Nero 7 back on my computer. Well of course it wouldn't be easy! I go to open up NeroVision and an error message pops up saying: "Unable to initialize Nero API. Unspecified error." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have used Nero's general clean tool. I've installed the latest update. I don't know what else to do.
So if someone can help me with either of these issues, I'd be grateful. I would prefer to have Nero 8, but right now I will settle for either. THANKS!!
The burning rom in Nero 8 is currently a problem auto burning with Shrink. You can save your output to the hard drive with Shrink and burn manually with Nero Express. Either that or revert to Nero 7 or another burner. Give the manual burn with Express a try and let us know how it turns out.
thanks for the advice! Ill try it out it will prob take longer but if it works I can deal. If anyone can help me with the problem with 7 I would really appreciate it!! It was so much easier to use it. Please can someone help me with Nero 7
What is there to help? You said you replaced it when your system crashed. Why don't you delete Nero 8 and install Nero 7? If you lost your license number, then you'll have to contact Nero.

Normally the error you're receiving is due to a corrupt installation. I realize that doesn't help because you've done the cleanup and reinstallation. Maybe someone else will wonder by and make a suggestion. What's surprising is that Nero 8 works except for the burning rom with Shrink. As I've mentioned before, the workaround is to output to the HD and manually burn with Express. But if Nero 8 installs without problems, then Nero 7 should if the system is clean. I realize you installed Nero 7 after using the clean tool, but where did you get the version being installed and what version is it?
