ok downloading the kernal from r4ds.com . Do i need anything from the cd it came from? Where do i put the file that im downloading at? do i leave just at the root on stick? also do i need to update any firmware for the ds or just download the kernal add the games and play?
ull also want the moonshell files also. but yes, but them on the root of the file and put games in anywhere. there are instructions that are on both the website and the cd.
very easy mate when you have downloaded the firmware unzip it and you will have 2 folders and 2 files -
folders , _system_ , moonshl .
files , _DS_MENU , _DS_MSHL.nds .
just put the 2 folders and 2 files on your micro sd memory card and thats it Kernel ( firmware ) done .
all firmware is on your r4ds no need to touch your nintendo ds.
you dont need anything from the cd as its probably out of date , latest kernel ( firmware ) V1.11.
when adding games make sure that they are .nds files the r4ds will only play .nds files ( if they are rared you will have to unrar to get the .nds file )
any more advice just let me know mate im no expert but have done about 15 r4ds for friends and family and all working excellently.
could be something simple like dust , try blowing in the slot and putting the r4ds back in , if it works in another ds then it must be ok , could be just a bit of dust ! ( not letting it contact properly )

i have a R 4 and im finding it very hard for an old girl.
it either continues loading or cant find menu dat can you help i know it will work cause other have it going but me i have lost the will to live.
