Sorry for posting this here but I have had it on the hardware fourm and have had no reply.
Ok I just got lord of the rings 2 towers extended version yesterday the proper one, its not backed up. I have a lg 4710/4210 dvd player(region 2). So ok I but the disk in my dvd player I notices the screen was in black and white for the first time i though it was strange then i got "check disk" on the screen. Can anyone help.
P.s
About 18 months ago I put the multiregion hack on it, it worked fine but now it still plays region 1 but not region 2? I've tried other region 2 dvd's not it so it not the lord of the rings disk.

Have you looked at Setup in your player to dtermine if it is set to the right Region? I hacked my GE but still have to change Regions from Region Free to Region 2 for 3 DVDs I have.

Try it on someone else's player. That'll tell you if it's your player.

Yet again either of DVD-R)RW) & DVD+R(RW) are nothing to do with region.
I have a Sony R2 (Region 2) DVD Player but it plays all formats , the formats being DVD-R(RW),DVD+R(RW),VCD,mp3 etc
I have roughly about 200 DVD-R's (cos I use Pioneer 104 DVD-RW to burn) and they are all no region discs , ie; they have no region & not only that no macrovision or any other encryption.
These are done in the authoring process
ASDA do the Pacific 1002 DVD Player for £42:50 and I know its a fairly decent player cos a few mates of mine have one but you can check here for quick check/guide of what features it has - IT IS multi-region I believe !: )

DVD player these days are so cheap and versatile that they will play anything.
Go get yourself a cheap lite-on player which plays all DVD formats and even DivX!
This carn't be bad for little under $100 (£67)!
