Or can I just use any unlock code for the Nokia 1600 on T-Mobile?

Okay, does this mean, that this number might completely lock the phone? Is there just one attempt and it locks up immediately?

No,this code cannot lock your phone.This code can only unlock the phone.
You have 3-5 attempts,not one.
