Hello! I'm using a sandisk 4 gig microsd. I was previously using a 512mb sandisk microsd and it worked perfectly.

The only difference is the 512 is a FAT 16 and the 4G is a FAT 32.

But when I try to format the 4G it only allows me to format it as a 32. It could be something else thats the problem, the 4 gig won't do a single thing, with the files or without. The R4 just says loading when the 4 gig is in.

Any help would be awesome!

Is the card an SDHC card? if so it won't work, the R4 only supports standard MicroSD cards. (there are standard 4GB MicroSD cards but they're rare, hence why I ask)

I hate computers...

Yes it is. I know nothing about these damn things.

Sigh. That was a waste of £25!

Cheers for the info.

Keep hold of the card as the R4 team did mention they were working on an update to support SDHC cards, but that was almost a month ago now.

I have the same issue. I have a black r4 Revolution, and i bought a 4gb (4 gig) MicroSD SDHC TransFlash card, And it hangs | freezes | gets stuck at the "Loading..." screen indefinitely | forever during Nintendo DS / NDS boot.

Some one please indicate where mr_hanky got this information about the "planned update" ? I would like to read this information myself.

I have written a letter to both:
Sales: sales@r4ds.com and Technical support: tech@r4ds.com
as indicated under "Contact Us" at http://www.r4ds.com/contact-en.htm

But have received no reply.

Where would we Download this patch to the OS from if they finish it??
Where could i see the R4 teams official comments regarding this issue? Where did this information about the support for SDHC cards come from?

Some one please answer these questions clearly.

And sorry if i sound redundant. I'm trying to keep this topic at the for-front of a google search for "R4 4gig". Since i cant find anything about it on the R4 site. X~X;;

Was on the homepage of GBAtemp for about a week
Quote:
SDHC Support: I never thought this would be possible, but the exact words they used ("It Will support SDHC Card") leaves no room for doubt! SDHC, which stands for Secure Digital High Capacity, supports microSD cards capacities up to 32 Gigabytes!
I have also noticed however when looking for the above link this:
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=65003
Quote:
Since SDHC support isn't possible for the current R4's, the team are introducing a SDHC range of cards soon. This is why there has been no update in a while

I've noticed a new problem with my R4.

It crashes. All the time. Sometimes it will o for hours without crashing though this is rare. Anything I can do to make it crash less?

It could be just a simple kernel update. The latest one is v1.11.

There are but a few reasons why you would want to format your micro SD card. And it's either to delete everything off the card or you have unsupported on-hand data contained within the card then it may prompt you to format the card. I have a Sandisk card myself, and honestly I don't recall having to format it. However, if you encounter any problems let me know.

2879ph,
The R4 itself doesn't need formatting. It uses MicroSD card to save games and data. It supports FAT16/32 file system which is supported by all OSs. However, if it asks you to format micro SD card, Go to My Computer>Right click on the drive>Click format the card.

2879ph,
What's the size of your micro SD card? Did you check to see if you actually have all the firmware files? Did the ROM come in a single file with .nds extension or with multiple .rar files?

You also needs to add a folder Called GAMES and you put the roms in there.

I have all consoles and Hand held consoles from 1988 to 2007.

No. As previously stated, create a New Folder and name it whatever you like--this is where you put your ROMs. Another thing, take out those four files (contents of english 1.12 folder) out of the folder and put them on the root directory. This means that when you open your memory card on My Computer they're right there. I'm trying to explain it as simple as I can. Hopefully, you get it going.
