Hi

Is someone able to help me with this problem. I've been advised it is not a network locking problem.

How the problem occurred:
I was deleting photos.
The battery ran out.
I plugged my computer serial cable charger into the phone and charged it for 2 minutes.
I turned it on while charging, entered the pin code, it said "Enter Restriction Code".

I've tried multiple times but no code works. I've called AAPT, Telstra, Nokia, a service centre and they keep sending me to each other in a never ending circle.

Please help if you can. Thanks kindly.

Mark.

Are you sure your phone is unlocked?
Usually,if you see-enter restriction code-your phone still locked.
And what did you seen after entering code-code error or what?

Thanks for you reply.

I have phoned nokia, telstra, aapt and I have been advised the phone is not on the locked list, and i have used it with 3 networks in the last 5 years.

When you put in an incorrect code, it just says code error and asks for the restriction code again. I've tried other sims in it, and you don't even have the option of putting in the initial pin code (it just asks for the restriction code), whereas with mine it asks for the pin first.

I took it down to a vodaphone shop and they said it's most likely that the handset that has gone dead, not the sim.

Its possible,dead.
You can try full reset(without cable).
See instruction from phone.
I dont know will work or not but...
Its possible was problem by your experiments with cable...

For reset you need enter security code.
Usually security code 12345
or 5610546070-its security mastercode for your phone.

Or go to local phone shop to repair.

When do I put these in? At the PIN request or the Restriction code request? or with the SIM card out. These are my only 3 options?

Thanks.

I thought you were referring to the manual. Now I know you are refering to functionality within the phone:
I cannot get into the phone options. I only have 3 options:
1. Don't have a sim card
With a sim card in:
2. Enter the PIN code (which leads to 3)
3. Enter Restriction code. I cannot get past this step so cannot restore factory defaults unless you can tell me how to do it another way.

Am I supposed to be doing these with the sim card out? I've been doing it with the sim card out and in (as the restriction code).

From:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Unblocking_Code

A Personal Unblocking Code (PUC) or Personal Unblocking Key

(PUK) is used in GSM mobile phones and some smartcards to

unblock a blocked card.

Most mobile telephones offer the feature of personal

identification number (PIN) protection. After switching on the

phone, the user, if the PIN security function is not switched

off, is requested to enter a 4-8 digit PIN enabling the

phone's non-emergency calling functions. If the wrong PIN is

typed in more than three times, either the SIM card, the

device or both become locked. They can be reverted to their

original unlocked state by entering a PUC, provided by the

service operator through verification. If the wrong PUC is

entered ten times in a row, the device will become permanently

blocked and unrecoverable, requiring a new SIM card. Cellular

phone users are therefore advised by most providers to keep

their PUC written down in a safe place separate from the

device.

Since we can?t do it alone, we need each other.

Thanks JoeGons, however I've tried the PUK code. I've tried many SIM cards of optus and vodaphone networks.

It is not possible for an unlocked phone to lock itself.
If a good SIM from a Network that worked in the past no longer works, ithe problem is caused by some other reason.
I assume you have removed the battery for a few minutes. I find that rebooting these modern devices often solves problems.
I can't see that turning on the phone while charging would cause a problem.
You say it is accepting your PIN so that should not be the problem.
You say you have tried multiple codes.
Unlock codes?
In the end, aftering checking it is still functional, you mey need to flash it or some such solution.
Good luck.

Thanks J. Yeah I really think it's broken or needs a flash. I don't have the tools to do it myself and can't find a shop that will charge me less than $40 for minimum labour. I can get an identical, working, used handset for that price. Thanks for the help anyway.

Out of curiosity, I tried pucking it. Can't even do that. It's definitely suited to the trash can. Tis a shame - was a good phone.
