what are you trying to do. There is no need to "rebuild" decrypted files if you used DVD Decrypter.

DVDs have 3 types of files on them, VOB, ifo and bup. When you decrypt them in file mode, that is what you replicate-- VOB, ifo, and bup. You need all of these files in a VIDEO_TS folder for the dvd player (standalone) to identify the movie.

the problem in backing up dvd is that they are too big, DVD-9 usually and therefore contain up to 9.4 gb of data when we can only burn DVD-5 and 4.7 gb (really 4.38 gb) of data. Therefore the real problem is compressing the movies.

Compression programs vary from DVD Shrink (free) to DVD2One ($50) and others like clonedvd(also $). DVD Shrink works great and is priced right and includes a ripper (so you don't need to use decrypter unless you have too).

thanx for the swift reply V,
as im trying to copy dvds and the decrypter program allows me to choose the main parts of the disc thus shrinking the total disc, what im having trouble doing is grouping the whole of the decrypted files so as to reburn them to dvd,the audio seems to disapper.

Hey dajackle,
Check out the guides that yuedana suggested. Once you have the fiels decrypted onto your HD there is no need for you to do anything to "group" them.
If the file set is too large for a DVD5, you may have to compress them (see the DVDShrink guide), but even in this case they will come through the process "ready to burn".
As for the audio, it could be that you have stream processing enabled in DVDDecrypter. Try the DVDShrink method and see if that solves your problem.

thanx yuriv,
im trying that method as we speak, am going to run the decyrpted files through "Nero Burning Rom" to see if i can sellect the files i want as the mivie is a long one, im assuming that the VOB files are the video files but are the .ifo and .bup files essential to the movie that i burn i.e. can the VOB files be burnt to dvd disc without the other file types.?

hi people,
when decrypting movies into .VOB .ifo and .bup files, and using "Nero Burning Rom" to reburn, when using dvdshrink how can i determin which .bup and .ifo files go with which VOB files when editing the movies so they fit on a 4.7 gig dvd disc.

read the guides.
you need the bup, ifo and VOB all. Don't separate them.

If you are going to use shrink as the compression program, let it rip for you also. Shrink will automatically fit them into a DVD (really 4.38 gb or 4470 mb). Do as the guides say and just rip them into a VIDEO_TS folder. Then burn the whole folder (or its contents) with your burning program. Don't perseverate over the individual files--think of everthing in the folder as a single item.

dvd ram is different type of writing. some of those are double sided. dvd-ram is different than -r as +r is different than -r. If you have -r, you can only use -r. If you have +r, you can only use +r.

Your standalone may be the culprit. you need to check compatibility at:http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php

It could be media-- sometimes it is certain combinations that are funny, a certain media with certain standalones, etc.
