I have been trying to print out DVD covers for my back up DVDs on photo Glossy paper & I'm having nightmare of a lifetime, up until now I use to use standard A4 paper to do that job & I never had a single printing problem, but I spent alot of money & bought 200 A4 Glossy PAPER (230GSM if it matters) for better quality cover but now it cuts off 10% of the cover from top & bottom both

I have tried all the other thread but none of them had similar problem as mine as I can print fine in standard paper.

these are the result I get when I try to Print.

this one I printed on Photo Glossy paper. RESULT: both side cut off

this what I printed on standard A4 paper. RESULT: perfect (sorry for the draft quality didn't wanna waste ink.)

This what I printed on Glossy A4 Photo quality paper (No setting difference)
RESULT: Same! cut off from both end

I've tried all of these software:
CD DVD Cover creator
Image Expert
North Cardinal DVD PRINT
few others.

Contacted but they say printer is cabable of printing it contact software provider :S

Any help will be highly appreciated

Try UndercoverXP and only use plain paper (but tell the printer it's photo) until it's solved.

I have an HP940c, which I tell to use legal size.
I tape a plain sheet to the back of the photo and let three inches stick beyond the edge.
The photo feeds in and it continues to print on the photo beyond the margin of where it would be on a letter size sheet.

nah mate I just tried that I think the only problem there is, its when i put glossy paper in that its thick & chunky for the grabbing thing inside to hold it I tried your idea by putting plain paper underneath first & than stick that in but than it start printing on the plain paper first OR may be I didn't understand it properly :( I really do appreciate your help attar you seems to be the only one has atleast tried to help me in this matter any further help will be appreciated. cheers

It feeds in so that it starts printing on the photo paper. It shouldn't even get to the plain paper - it's only there so that the printer thinks it has a sheet of legal - otherwise if you told it you are using legal (but you feed it letter size) it detects that the paper is out and stops printing.

it doesn't work man, my printer doesn't have a tray meaning it doesn't take paper in anyway so even what you're suggesting me to put the photo paper 3in beyond the standard paper & specify the size legal because whatever is at the back it doesn't count anyway this is the picture of my printer

When you set your printer options for glossy photo is your setting for actual size or custom or fit to page?Mine will keep different settings for plain paper and photo paper. If thats not it I'd try unplugging the printe for 5 min.and plugging back in.If it prints on reg paper and not photo sounds like the page setting or margine is set up different for photo.Chris

to chris:

I have tried all of those setting actually custom, full page and fit to page but regardless of setting it give the same issue as you can see in the movie 300 the last picture I printed it in the middle of the page it still cutted the corner.

the only thing I dont understand is my glossy papers are accurate A4 size literally no differene between this & standard paper apart from the thickness than why can it not print the same as standard paper.. thats the part that sucks most :S

I'll tried unplugging for more than few minuts and still the same.....

Don't know what all you.ve tried the only other thing I can think of is try the paper setting at 8.5 x 11.And check the back cover to see if any paper or any things on the wheels, paper etc. Chris If it works on reg paper it pretty much rules out a software problem, maybe even blowing out the rollers with some compressed air. Chris

I'm sorry chris if I wasn't clear enough regards to the settings, I had tried custom settings printing out directly after downloading covers from website such COVERCC & also tried with all the different software different type of setting such as LEGAL, 8 x 14 & US LETTER (as you said 8.5 x 11) but result are same when the same thing with standard paper it works perfactly fine.

the thickness of paper seem to be the only trouble. :S

Sorry skipped by that part, just trying to help.If you do find the solution would like to know the answer.i've not had that problem with my 2 HP's 1215 & 2175,but it could happen someday and I like that sort of info in case I ever run into it. I use them mainly for photos and the Epsons for covers because of ink costs. Chris

I have the 1210v, and only use it for scanning, for that very reason! It cut off the cover, no matter what I did. I called HP, and they were no help. I got an Epson R200, and all I use it for is dvds and their covers. It doesn't cut anything off.
Good luck!

We have no problems with that exact model of printer in the shop... on any paper..

It does look very much like a margins settings issue... which will depend on whatever printing software you are using..Nero cover designer allows for different margins to be set depending on paper type (or did back when I last used it around 6.6.18 days)I will have a quick look at the printer options in the shop tomorrow if I get chance.

What we always do (vhs covers to dvd case) is to chop up the covers in ulead photo edit, then place the different elements in the right place with nero cover designer..maybe the dpi setting is wrong?

Saw a nasty xp habit a while ago on a different printer.. where certain paper had been set to print at only 60%.. I think that's a global setting tho.. and I can't for the life of me remember where the setting was.

The page layout looks as if it might be in portrait mode, it should be Landscape mode. That would cut off the edges, Just a thought.

I didn't read the entire thread but I am willing to put my two cents worth in. Are you using legal paper or standard?

to Milton007: I tried every possible way landscape & portrait would be the least to consider. result the same. bloody printer doesn't take the photo paper in appropraite way end up start from the corner.

To DZNUTS: its A4 for paper says it in thru out the thread :) thanks anyway.

To Varnull: mate I spoke to hp on over an hour freakin useless Indian Customer Service wouldn't know jack shit & regards to Margin problem.. I used CoverXP software if there was a Margin issue that software indicate & sort it out automatically thats what it specialize for

MORAL OF THE STORY: I searched every possible forum on the net & checked with experts there isn't a solution to it. so I just bought another EPSON printer which does the job fine with any software I'd recomend UNDERCOVERXP the best software..

thanks for everyone who helped resolving this matter I appreciate all of your efforts :)
Cheers
Kind Regards:
Danial
