I could really use anyone's suggestions here as I've exhausted seemingly all options.
Here's my problem. I am trying to backup one of my double layer movies to a double layer disc. I ripped it using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 to an ISO file, which also created the linking MDS file. I then put in a blank Memorex DVD+R DL disc and open Decrypter with the MDS file. The Device Buffer bar (on the left) fills up, but the buffer on the right never does, and the burn never starts. After about 10 minutes, it fails, seemingly never burning anything to the inserted disc.
This is the same procedure, along with the same hardware that I've been using up until a week ago. Same brand of Double Layer discs from the same spindle. It is the same burner with the latest firmware, using the same software (DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0). I do not have a problem when burning to a 4.7GB disc (after using DVD Shrink of course), so that should rule out the fact that the DVD Burner hardware is defective. I have tried using four different DL discs, though all Memorex, all failed.
Any suggestions would be very helpful, and I'm sure there will be questions as well since I must have missed out on some necessary details.
Thanks.

Forgot to mention that I already tried uninstalling the drivers for the DVD Burner, and restarting the computer. Also, ran Adware to remove spyware.

Thanks. How do you remove the IDE controllers though? Thru Device Manager and Uninstalling the appropriate hardware? If so, then that is what I meant by uninstalling the drivers for the DVD Burner.

Yea, I did that already. And I just tried ImgBurn. It got thru the burn successfully, but failed on the verification.

Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately, nothing worked. However, I ordered a new drive, installed it and all is working well...with the new drive only.
The old drive won't even work with the new Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. Still a mystery...

Exactly. Instead of us guessing, a make and model would be helpful.
Why throw away a good drive?
