I have Windows Vista Premium with an after market TV tuner card. I have Nero 8 Ultimate. I have several TV shows that I have recorded to a hard drive but can not figure out how to burn them to DVD. Nero Manuals have not been much help here. The recorded files have a .dvr-ms extension and Nereo will not recognize this.

Nerovision is the Nero program to use. Nero 8 wouldn't import several dvr-ms files for me either. You might go back to Nero 7.10.1.0 and see if that'll work for you.

If you're going to burn a lot of media center files, one of the easiest ways is to just buy VideoRedo. It strips the mpeg2 stream from the Microsoft Media Center dvr-ms wrapper. It'll also edit out the commercials. You can then use whatever authoring software you want to either convert to mpeg4 or burn as mpeg2 to DVD.

I think TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 may also work with dvr-ms containers but I haven't used it for a while so I don't remember for sure.

There used to be a free program called autodvrconvert that'd also strip the mpeg2 transport stream. I could never get it to work in Vista, but maybe it'll work in XP. The Green Button has a forum that deals with this.

I think you can also use Microsoft Graphedit with some filters to do this as well.

I use VideoRedo because it's quick and easy and I can also use it in reverse to put other mpeg2 files inside dvr-ms wrappers and get Media Center to list and play them. It's worth the $50. It has a fully functional 15-day trial I think.

Thanks laddyboy. I'm going to give it a try. I'll let you know how it goes.
