Hi im going to be trying to burn a 8GB file, its actually a video with a MKV extension. What is the best program to burn this to a DVD+R DL disk.
I have already tried using Nero version 8.1.1.0 and it failed. To burn the file i had to use the UDF compilation otherwise it wouldn't let me. Should i try again using an older version of Nero or try something else.

ok but heres another problem, i tried burning one file totaling 8GB using Nero version 8.1.1.0
....
I've always been using the Memorex DVD+R DL discs and ive never made a coaster, well not until now. The new discs have the same DISC ID as the ones I already recorded to successfully: Ritek-D01-01. So its not a disc problem.
...
When i bought these new discs i made two successful burns, so i really doubt it that its the disc problem.

Power Calibration error solutions

Try another brand of DVD-/+R or DVD-/+RW media.
This is the most common cause of OPC errors.

Update the firmware of your recorder.
Check the manufacturer's website for the latest version.

Check your power connectors, loose connections do occur.
Don't share power with other devices. It needs its own power connector. If the error occurs with an external recorder, Check the USB cable and connections.

Try different configurations, such as taking the DVD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master.

Clean or have your DVD burner serviced. There are cleaning kits available. Sometimes just a gentle appplication of canned air can remove dust blocking the laser.

Replace the DVD burner.
Are you still using the Ritek-D01-01.
Two good burns has no real meaning.
It may just be luck. See link for reviews.

The safest choice for DVD-9's are these discs.

edit

Post a Nero log for a failed burn.

Could it be because i don't have enough power for my PC. I have 5 HDD's (2 IDE's and 3 SATA's), a Geforce 7900 GT, a 939 mobo with a 4800+ X2 processor, one DVD+RW drive, 6 LED fan's excluding the processor and VGA fan. All this running on a 460 watt power supply?

Yesterday i was really pissed and formated my PC. I reinstalled my XP. I didn't install DVD Decrypter this time nor Nero. I did install Alcohol like some one suggested. I burned two DVD+R DL disc successfully and i started to burn a 3rd one. The 3rd one failed. And this is the log file.

The log tells me little.
I do not know the speed, the media code nor any real error codes.

If you are using the Ritek's you are going to get coasters.
How old is your writer?

about 3.5 to 4 years old. I used Memorex DVD+R DL media burned them at 2.4 X speed and the media code is Ritek-D01-01.I have made a total of 3 good burns and 4 or 5 fails. I used the same speed all the time, i had a couple of programs running in the background but none of them were processor hungry. Nor were they taking up a lot of RAM.

As I pointed in the first post.
The Ritek's give mixed results.
You may get most of them to burn ok, but you will end up with a number of coasters.
You may as well burn them unless you are going to get a new burner.

Have you tried Imgburn

Getting a new burner was my first option. I dont want to waste all those DVD's. Do you have any suggestions for some good burners that have gotten good reviews. I have a Pioneer A08XL drive. I don't remember making any coasters, not until now. So I came to a conclusion that my drive is dying.

I stll have my old LG, so I am not the one to ask.
Read the first link, then look through the Forum link for ideas on a new drive.
They are cheap these days, so it is the best choice to solve the trouble.

edit
When you buy new dual layer discs, go with the Verbatim 2.4x or 4x.
