i had recordnow max installed, and it worked great. I could choose the DVD recording speeds, between 1x 2x and 4x, which was great, as some of my media needs to be burned at 2x

however, i have since re-installed my PC, and re loaded recordnowmax, and these options have now change to simply MAX MIN and MED. no speeds???? any ideas how i can change em back?

That is a new one on me, never heard of that before.....

Just a thought, is it possible that your initial program was upgraded from an earlier version......so by removing it and then reloading - you are just left with the earlier version only?

no, originlally, i havd Ver 3, and i upgraded to 4.5, and everything was fine, in the speed box, in DVD mode i could select 1x 2x or 4x. in CDR mode i could select 1x 2x 4x 8x or 16x. now, in both modes i can only select MID MED or MAX???? all i did was re-install windows XP, and then Ver3, and upgrade to Ver4.5, as i did originally. cant figure it out?

After re-installing XP did you install newer chipset drivers for your motherboard, than you were running before? I know I had some problems with burning prog's after installing Nvidia's new 3.13 drivers specifically the SW ide driver. After alot of reading in other forums it turned out I could continue to use them by removing my rounded cables and using the ribbon ide cables. Seems they weren't shielded properly if at all and were messing up the tweaked timing settings of the sw ide drivers. I haven't had any problems since.
Just a thought.

Have you run the px engine update on it....

Have you tried to burn with it yet?

I am just wondering (for some wierd reason) that the proggie is not recognising your burner properly......

i did try once, with a DVD-r and burnt at MIN to test, and it failed after the Lead-in. I hav also tried Nero, and it works fine, but before my reinstall, both proggies worked fine! i will try the engine upgrade now and see

FIXED....... i downloaded the PX engine update from Veritas, but it did not work, and then contacted customer support from Sonic, and they suggested i download the PX engine update. Thought i had done that!!!! still, downloaded the PX engine update from Sonic instead of veritas, and hey, it works!!! great

Superb, I was going to give you following which came from my software helper.

If the speed selections are not visible, it probably means that the software is not recognising your drive fully and is having to make a wild guess at the speeds. Downloading and installing the PX engines from this link - http://www.orlogix.com/support_download.php?type=updates&pn=rnm - should sort out the issue.
