Hi, ive used Nero for a long time and have always burnt avi files onto dvds, those 700mb movies on 4.7gb discs. I go to create your own dvd and make it on fit to disc, then once it creates music and that jargon, when it is about to start burning, it says that the dvd inserted is not big enough, where it clearly is as it is what i have been doing for years with dvds. Why is this and how can i fix it? ive reinstalled nero and still same problem occurs, version is 7.7.5.1

Unless there is an error, it seems Nero made a conversion that exceeds the disk capacity. It happens. There are a couple of options here. One, reduce the video bitrate to reduce the disk size. Second, either output a folder of video files or a Nero img file with the Image Recorder and then compress that output with Nero Recode or DVD Shrink. The second is probably the easiest.

I have a similar problem and would appreciate any help.

I have a movie that I ripped and used DVD Shrink to compress. The movie encodes fine in Shrink and is only 4.37GB in size. However, when the encoding process is completed and Nero is supposed to take over, a window pops up stating that there is not enough space on the disc which is 4.7GB in size. I have tried three different discs with the same results. Could it be a problem with my DVDRW drive? I have done this a hundred times with no problems until now.

I think there may be a bug in Nero. Someone else was having an identical problem in a totally different thread. It turned out to be an error related to Nero's ability to get the actual file size correct. Instead of autoburning with Nero from Shrink, output an ISO image file and then burn that with ImgBurn (free) in a separate step.

It'd be a good idea to set your target output size to "custom" under the Preferences tab of Preferences... from the Edit menu. Set the custom size to 4400 or 4350 by entering the number in the MB size box.

What specific version of Nero are you using? For Nero 7 I think the latest version is 7.10.1.0.
