Hi Everyone.
I'm using DVDshrink 2.3 and I'm trying to shrink a dvd. Problem is that no matter what compression level I choose the output files are always the same size.. 4.8 gig.

I've tried shrinking the dvd 5 times now and using different compression levels with no luck.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any hints/tips?
The dvd is not encrypted according to DVDshrink.
Thanks

yeah i've run into that. Try going into your preferences and setting your target output to a lower size. I keep mine on 4440, if it still continues to output too large of files, which it has for me occasionally, you will probably just have to delete one or more of the VOB files from your output folder. Thats what I do anyway. I just look at the VOB's with WinDVD and find some special feature that I can live without and delete it.
Hope that helped.

I've tried different maximum size settings as well as using 3.0 software, but still no luck.

Unfortunately for me this disk also comes as just one large track so I am unable to just split it over 2 dvds and there are no special features on this disk.

hmm.. strange.. I still cant understand why no matter what compression level I use the file size comes out the same. dvdshrink has worked perfectly on every other disk I've tried.

MiKisCHu, I'm affraid DVD Shrink has a compression-limit due to its algorithm.
The disc you're trying to backup has probably reached this limit.
Read the following thread (dvdshrink's post) for a detailed explanation as to how DVD Shrink works.
http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26603

As a solution to your problem, I suggest you run the "shrunk" files through DVD Shrink a second time.
It shouldn't affect the quality too much, considering how much compression would be needed the second time around. ;)

ooh.. I feel like I've just looked through the looking glass..

I never thought about shrinking a shrunk movie.

Quality shouldn't be an issue as it's only an anime dvd.

Hope it works.

Thanks.

hi you shrink to split over two disks.

Reauther and start/end edit, set end to half way through film then do again with starting from half way through. Works very well and you can over lap a bit if you want

If they did not want films copied they would not make it so easy!!!

I did the shrink and reshrink method.

It worked a treat. Thanks to ddlooping for suggesting it.

Since it was anime the quality didn't really suffer.

I'll give the start/end re-author method a try next time too..

Thanks again to everyone who helped out
