Hello!

Im thinking of buying some new components to my computer. Im interested in buying a new graphics card, processor and because of those i have to buy a new power supply. The budget is ~300? maybe a little more.

My computer specs:

AMD Athlon 64, 2000 MHz (10 x 200) 3200+

MSI RS480M2/RX480M2 (MS-7093) (3 PCI, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN, IEEE-1394) socket 939

ATI Radeon Xpress 200, AMD Hammer

RAM 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)

NVIDIA GeForce 6600 (256 MB)

Power supply is Liteon 300w.

One dvd/rw drive and one basic dvd-drive.

And this is what i have been thinking to buy:

Amd athlon 4200+ 64 x2 socket 939 ~79?

XFX GeForce 8800GT XXX Edition ~195?

and Chieftec GPS-450w power supply. ~60?

that makes ~335?.

is that power supply good and is the 450w output enough to the graphics card. what do you think about these parts? any suggestions or sth...?
:)

I use computer mostly in playing games like cs 1.6, source, HF2, CODs and so on.

Thank you for the advices. :)

That setup upgrade looks fine, although I am not real sure that Chieftec PSUs are reliable. Also, since you're running a 8800GT I would go with a 500watt.

Not to mention that you need to include another gig of ram. 1GB is bare minimum these days, maybe not for CS, but for COD4 and Crysis, 1GB is very little.

Chieftec PSUs are terrible, you will need to spend a reasonable amount of money on a PSU, it's not just a case of "it's cheap, it'll do" most cheap power supplies will very easily fry all your components and are also well known for fires. That PC will run fine off a 400W power supply, but you need a decent one.
Try and find a Corsair VX 450W.
