cant rewind/fast forward videos

Does anybody know why some of my videos wont fast forward? When I try it starts the video all the way over and the little scroll bar on windows media player doesn't move

AUGBOY,
Download Windows Media Encoder. Videos with certain file extensions were meant mainly for streaming over the web. And that's why you can't fast-forward or rewind them. You watch the movie continuously.
