Hi guys,
I am not a techy kind of guy, so please bear with me.
I have been using nero for a while, I don't even know which version.
Unfortunately my pc just crashed, and bought a new one, no complain so far.
I used nero only for burning Divx, I was tought how to do it by a friend.
So basically I downloaded movie and burned them into DVD RW and subsequently delete the file, so no back up, I hate to live stuff in my pc.
I also remember how to delete the contents of a burned DVDrw.
Here are the questions.
Which version do you reccomed for me to download?
only using nero as i explained above, is it worth to actually buy it, or is there any similar software which can be installed for free?
Also since I am not good with complicated terms, I need to understand how to make copies.
For example I have already few DVD rw Burned in divx format (if that is the right way to say it), if I wanted to copy them to a blanck dvdrw what are the steps?
Be kind with me, what ever you think is a simple term to you probably is not, so if I don't understand your term I will ask again.
If my English expression are somehow uncomprehensible, I apologize.
If you don't understand please ask me, I will try my best to clarify it
Cheers

If you want to burn a DVD data disk, try 'ImgBurn'
Click 'Mode' > 'Build', then choose either the file or folder icon.

but i need more help, does it burn divx?
also, as i mentioned on my post, i am almost hopless to understand those pc terms.
i start and you continue.
as soon as i insert a dvdrw which has in it all divx movies into the pc, what is next?
cheers
ImgBurn when set for 'Mode' = 'Build' will burn a DivX or any other file.
The disk, in this case, will be a 'Data' disk, as opposed to a 'DVD disk'.
If the disk to be used for burning the file is a RW disk, it will be erased by ImgBurn before the file(s) are burned - thus if you have files on the disk that you do not wish to lose, do not use it.

so let me put this straight.
unless i don't wont to lose the data i should not copy it?
so before using imgburn, when i inserted the disk into the pc, i should transfer/copy the movies into a folder/file and copy to a blanck disk using imgburn?
did i get it right?

Storing data on a RW disk is risky business, because sooner or later it will get overwritten or the disk becomes unreadable.
Out of my last ten pack of DVD-RW, I have four left that are good. The rest failed over a two year period.
Best to save important files on a regular CD or DVD or the hard drive and use RW's for temporary storage.

i can see your point.
the only reason i burn divx movies into dvdrw is because i know i delete as soon as i watch them, i hate to accumulate dvds knowing that i wont watch them again.
i only burn dvd only for my partner, she likes to watch movies billions of time.
so basically like you said earlier on if i use IMGBURN, i should store the movies into one folder first and later tranfer it to a blank dvd.
i hope i got it this time.
Since i am so used to nero 6 i am worry that i would make a mess to get used to a new burning software.
i will give a try, if i feel it does not work for me, i just buy the nero 6, and that reminds me to ask another question.
when i checked nero website it does'nt have the function to download the version 6, so i should assume that i will have to purchase it through a third party, like amazon etc.. in case of a technical problem would i still be able to get the technical support from nero?
cheers

Store them on the hard drive and burn a RW disk as required.
Nero 6 is no longer updated and won't run under Vista, so support may be a problem.

mine is xp professional.
and the reason i don't want the nero 6 to be updated, is because i am fine with it as it is, never had any problem in the past.

does this mean that having xp professional i wont have any problem with the support?
also not updating nero software would that create any problem?
sorry for keep asking probably stupid questions.
as for the img burn, i am satisfied with your explanation, i will only need to download, and see how it goes.
cheers

I don't know if Nero still offers technical support for version 6 - but it is no longer updated to fix bugs or reported problems.
Contacting Nero through their website would seem prudent if you have concerns.
