Hi. i have been looking around the net for a while now and can't seem to find the answer to this. my question is.

I have 2 computers and i was wondering if there is anyway that i could make it look to other websites as if the two computers where from totaly different locations. like pc1 from my house and pc2 from some other house with a different user in my country. is this possible in anyway?

The reason i want this is because, i was playing an online game called Death Time. when you die on your acount it gets a type of ban for a few weeks, you can't log in for that time period. and i was wondering if there is anyway i could use my 2nd pc to make it look like another users pc. and not be linked or conected to my acount or pc1 in anyway. i would be thankful for any help.

You could do this just from one PC, and it requires use of a proxy. Now for things that are web-browser based that's easy to do, for actual applications it's not so easy. I'm guessing you can use an SSH shell to that end, but I'm not sure how exactly.

With the use of a proxy from one pc, would it look like 2 totaly different pc's? as i want to keep my main acount for the game, but make up a second. witch would mean that i would have to have my computer at many times during the day, look like it was my computer then someone elses computer in another home in another part of the world so the two acounts can't be linked.

and would the use of a proxy mean that it would never be tracked back to my own computer? and always look like someone elses, somewhere else, in another part of the world/country?

The idea of a proxy is to make your PC appear like someone else's. You can't have it appear as two simultaneously, but it should be easy to swap from one to the other. It wouldn't require a windows restart anyway.
However, it requires configuring the application to use the proxy rather than your normal internet connection, and I only know how to do that for torrent programs and web browsers.

Well, firefox for example, can be configured so that it uses a proxy rather than your normal IP address. This makes it look like you're using a PC somewhere else in the world. However, I'm unfamiliar with Death Time, so I don't know how you could use it with a proxy. Is it based in a web browser?

Thanks very much ^_^, i will look that up right away. are all proxy servers the same or do i have to be carfull of the one i choose?

Also, would this be easy to trace back to my own computer at all? and would that mean since it is going through firefox that i would be able to use another web browsing aplication as my own computer with the game at the same time as the firefox browser looking like another computer? or would this proxy make all browsers look like another computer?

It would be safer to use another browser if you wanted to appear as you again, so dig out ie during your game sessions...

You have to of course find a working proxy. Most of the free ones in big long lists have been removed. The only foolproof way of getting one is to sign up for one, or better yet sign up for a shell account and use something like putty, they're only a few pounds/dollars a month.
