I'm having trouble installing a soundcard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102003)

onto my Dell Dimension 4600c.

Heres a pic I took of the PCI slot and soundcard

soundcard is lying on the power supply to the left, PCI slot in the middle(should be white right?), and my video card which goes into a AGP slot to the right.

I put it in but I'm not sure if it went in all the way, as thats probably why my computer wont detect it.
Also the end metal part won't go intact and sticks out, i was considering screwing it off but couldn't find the appopriate screwdriver.

Any tips?

because the bracket of the card is bent from the middle to the bottom is preventing it to be properly seated & recognized by the computer.

can use your hand to straighten it then use pliers to bend the tab like bottom of the bracket slightly out. doesn't need much of a bend out.

that card isnt in all the way
the little hole should be much closer to the bottom of the casing
are you sure you didnt ruin the pci slot when you had it in crooked?

CRAP! i found out what the problem is. I am missing one of those pin things on my soundcard! Just one!

Apparently that has rendered it useless.

30 bux down the drain.

EDIT: Nvm! I compared my soundcard to this one and they are the same.

Umm so anyways, how will i make it fit?

that card is not in all the way as it should be sticking out at the bottom. bend the tip a bit more out. compare it to your videocard. you need half height brackets for both cards as your brackets are standard height but too tall to fit in that case.

half height brackets wont work
the cards themselves are fullsized...
What pin are you talking about???

closer to the body end. the part that is narrower then the rest of the bracket, bend it out slightly. compare it to your videocard in this picture.
