I have this motherboard in my computer:
http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l...515&modelmenu=1
On the information there, it reads "supported memory DDR2 400/533/667", but I just want to know, can I use any other memory on it as well, because for example 800 mhz memory is a bit cheaper, and I'm on a budget?
I was thinking of something like this (2 GB):
http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/me..._2_dual_channel
So could I use that without fear in my computer?

I think it might work, as DDR2 (double data rate) is when you multiply the 667, 400 etc by 2, and you get what DDR your mobo is compatible with. Since yours is compatible with DDR2 1334, 1066 and 800, I believe that ram would work, as it is DDR2 800.

Actually Waymon, the supported memory types in that PC are already doubled for DDR, so no, the board doesn't officially support DDR2 800, certainly not 1066, and 1333 doesn't even exist (for DDR2). You can try it, aWBC, but I wouldn't expec it to work. Stick with 667mhz memory, it's usually cheaper than 800mhz.

Ok, thanks for the advice.

"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

Ahh thanks sam. I guess I was thinking of the FSB or something when I said 1066 etc. I was never clear on DDR2, guess I'll have to read up!
