Drive just won't read CD's period.

I have a Compaq Presario V2000 that was given to me and my drive is a HL-DT-ST- DVD-RW GWA-4082N. For some odd reason my drive will not read my music CDs and at least one of my games (poor Morrowind). When I put in a disc in, the computer sounds like it is working and then nothing happens. When I look into the drive only a blank disc shows up. I have seen if there are any driver updates available and I have done trouble shooting but nothing has worked for me. It reads DVDs fine though... Should I just uninstall all my driverz and then re-install them?

try a firmware upgrade first

Try the Compaq/HP site first. If they have nothing, check the burner manufacturer's website.
