I must say, I'm not an experienced Nero user. Everytime I have tried in the past always something went wrong, unfortunately :(

This time around all I want to do is burn a DVD Video disc for a home DVD player.

This is what I did:

1. Using Nero Burning ROM, I chose DVD-Video, then
2. Found the AVI file I have
3. At this moment Nero told me this:

"AVI file is too large for the ISO system. Please use the UDF file system. This can be done by selecting another compilation type."

Although in the View menu UDF was selected...

4. Then I closed that compilation and opened a DVD-ROM (UDF) one,
5. Burned the DVD
Which was unreadable by our DVD player (Samsung DVD-V5500).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance, and happy new year! :)

I don't think that player plays AVI or divx type files so the file must first be converted to be DVD compliant and then burned to DVD to be playable in that player. Conversions programs include Nero Nerovision, ConvertXtoDVD, and DVD Flick. DVD Flick is a free program. ConvertXtoDVD is an excellent commercial program with a functional free trial although the output is watermarked. If you have the Nero suite you have Nerovision.

Thanks laddyboy :)
So if I understand... I should first use NeroVision to make the file DVD compliant, then I do what I did before using Nero Burning ROM (choosing DVD-Video), right?

Yes, although you can burn directly from NeroVision. All burning is done by the Burning ROM engine anyway.
