Hello everyone i am new here and hopefully i have the right forum

i have noticed my read speads in dvd fab are very low, like 3 kb/s maximum
i could swear that my old dvd drives had dvd fab reading at like 10-15 kb per second

i have reset dmas and i have nvidia drivers both sata

any idea how to speed things up?

well i think i found problem

i uninstalled my drivers and let windows vista find proper ones for SATA
now they are both dma enabled and reads are much faster

ha cool

it was bugging me for a long time because i knew these two 203b drives i have were supposed to be fast and i remember my older drives read movies much quicker.

now when i go into device mgr i see fully that both drives have checkmarks beside dma enabled and nero drive speed is at 12x read rate for both which is their stated max read rate for dvd r

sometimes before i installed the new drivers, nero drive speed said my drives speed was at 2x sometimes 6 x.
it kept switching for some reason


but installing new drivers solved everything for now...

while we talking, any opinion on the best current dvd software combo?
i use shrink to get iso image *around 10 min* and then burn with nero burning rom
total time is under 15 min for me
anyone else do this?

There really is no BEST solution to software for ripping/burning. It's mostly about personal preference.

I for one prefer the freebie combo of DvdFab Hd Decrypter, VobBlanker, Dvd Shrink, ImgBurn.

For some this method is too time consuming and they prefer the one click method.

Whatever method you end up utilizing, i will always recommend having multiple tools in your arsenal. You'll find it handy with some troublesome titles.
