I've been following the Universal Unbricker V3 guide on this site and ive managed to get to the step where I have to insert the DATEL TOOL. But for some reason no matter what I do, nuthing happens when I insert the battery and mem stick, im doing it right and following the steps correctly but my PSP is not responding at all weh the DATEL TOOL is in....

Ive (presumably) made a magic mem stick, but does this change my firmware? Because I just looked at my system information on my PSP and it still says version 3.72...is this correct?

Also when I go to Game memory stick on the PSP menu and select the M33 program it goes to load but then says 'The game could not be started (80020148)...is this supposed to happen seeing as I havent actually done anything with the battery yet?

Im just really confused at the stage, I need someone to tell me what im forgetting or where I have gone wrong.

Thanks.

Did you place the Magic Memory Stick in first then the Datel Tool Battery?

When you place the Datel Tool Battery in the PSP does the green power LED come on.

Yep I put the memory stick in first.

And no the green light does not come on at all when I have the DATEL TOOL in.

Just to make sure, I have to put the memory stick in while the PSP is off or when it is on? I've tried both anyway and they dont work.

Do you know why this is happening?

Oh and ive read so many guides and im completely confused, but do I have to have Custom Firmwrae before I do all of this? Because atm I just have the normal 3.72 sony official firmware before I tried doing this

When you insert the Datel Tool Battery the green power LED should come on.

If it doesn't then try charging the Datel Tool battery for a while.

Plug the PSP in via AC Adapter and then place the Datel Tool Battery into the PSP. Let it charge for about 1 to 2 hours.

After you have let it charge for a while unplug the AC Adapter and take out the Datel Tool battery. Then place the Magic Memory Stick in and then insert the Datel Tool Battery.

If the green power LED still doesn't come on when inserting the Datel Tool battery then you have bought a fake or defective Datel Tool Battery.

Oh right okay well i've just put it on charge now, i'll leave it for a while. Does it have to be charged up to a certain amount for the process to work then? Because I just got it brand new out the box a few hours ago, I know some batteries come uncharged and some dont so maybe it wasnt charged.

Otherwise i've bought a fake or broken DATEL TOOL? I highly doubt that because its from a reliable company but is there any other reason why this might not be working?

I'll let you know if i get it working btw. :) Thanks

Just to make sure, i've done everything right so far havent I?

Yes you have done everything properly.

As for doubting the Battery is FAKE or DEFECTIVE it doesn't matter how reputable a company is. If it is defective then it is defective. We are talking about electronics here and it is possible to get a defective product.

But it is defiantly a problem with the Datel Tool Battery because if it was charged and working properly then the green power LED would turn on when inserting it into the PSP.

The only control you have over the Datel Tool is charging it. So if charging it doesn't fix the issue then it is either a fake or defective battery and you need to return it or get your money back which you should be able to do if this company is such a reliable 1 as you have said it is.

Yay i've just done it and it worked! I now have 3.71 M33-2 custom firmware! BUT...

I've just tried playing an ISO from my computer and in the PSP menu it says it is a currupted file. Whats up with that?

Is there something else I have to do after making a Magic mem stick and Pandora battery to allow me to play ISOs?

I created a folder called 'ISO' in my PSP/GAME folder and thats where I put the .cso file.....is this right?

Also just to make sure, after I installed the CFW was there something else I was meant to do, how does the normal PSP slim battery become pandora then if it doesn come in contact with the DATEL battery ??

Help! :)

The Datel Tool battery is a Pandora Battery. They are both service mode batteries.

Go to System Settings then System Information and check under System Software and if it says 3.71 M33-2 then you are finished with the Datel Tool battery and Magic Memory Stick.

Now you can replace the Datel Tool Battery with your normal Battery and format the Memory Stick via System Settings and all proper folders will be made.

Now drag the ISO/CSO to the ISO folder and play via Game Menu Memory Stick.

Go HERE for further steps to take to get your ISO/CSO games working properly.

You also will want to update to 3.71 M33-4. So follow the below mini-guide to install the 3.71 M33-4 update.

download the 3.71 M33-4 update HERE and extract it.

Drag the UPDATE folder that was extracted from the 3.71 M33-4 update to the /PSP/GAME folder.

Go to Game menu Memory Stick and run the 3.71 M33-4 update.

After it has updated go to /PSP/GAME folder and delete the UPDATE folder.
