i have the fat psp running cfw 3.71 m33-4... all of a sudden my games stopped working so i figured it was my config settings so i wanted to change the "umd required" one to the "sony...no umd" but i couldnt even get into configuration. i could only boot up recovery and go though all other settings but when i try to go into configurations.. it just goes black. What does this mean and what should i do to get my games working again?

and if it's not, are we screwed? This is really annoying because when I had gone to 3.52 it didn't work and then I updated to 3.71 and it worked for about a week and now all of a sudden it's not again. Like I said really annoying.

ccbl, I had same problem my roms would work but no ISO's, my vsh menu use to open now does not, I can still open up recovery. What I did was this, downgrade custom firmwares back to 1.50 or repair your semi bricked psp use this 1.50 recovery http://www.sendspace.com/file/j3j2e2 put it in game folder on psp
go into recovery mode and select run programme at psp/game/recovery/eboot.pbp However, now my PSP does nothing, no menu screen no umd's no roms, it will let me in recovery mode still but nothing else. Sure could use some help :(

ccbl, take it as a warning or recommendation I guess, I think the process of downgrading my 3.71 m33 v4 to 1.50 may have worked for me if my flash0 was original! you see i changed my theme by flashing my flash0 and everything was working great for about a week, until the other day when i used some pics on my psp to change the wallpaper and then changed back to my flashed theme and then my iso's stopped working but my roms worked fine. So I guess what Iam trying to tell you is if you have not changed your flash0 and have the original flash0 I would use this 1.50 recovery http://www.sendspace.com/file/j3j2e2 put it in game folder on psp
go into recovery mode and select run programme at psp/game/recovery/eboot.pbp and that will get you back to 1.50 and then just install custom firmware again 3.71m33.
The problem Iam having is my flah0 is not original and I cant seem to reflash original in order for the 1.50 recovery to function properly. Hope this helps. Oh, I have had some success in rebuilding my flah0 to almost original and my psp is now semi-working again, still no luck with iso's but at least my psp is back to a semi-brick, because last night I thought it was completely bricked for all I had was a black screen, would turn on with black screen only
but could still access recovery mode which allowed me to restructure my flash0.

@Akkrin, ccbl and quint24

This sounds like a custom firmware instillation issue. Your best bet is to re-install 3.71 M33 CFW. Do the below steps if your PSP is a FAT PSP and was at 3.71 M33/M33-2/M33-3/M33-4.

The Recovery folder linked by quint24 is only compatible with 3.52 M33 custom firmware and below.

Download and extract this RECOVERY folder HERE. It is the proper recovery folder for 3.71 M33 custom firmware.

Go into recovery menu and toggle the USB.

Place the RECOVERY folder in /PSP/GAME folder.

Then go to Recovery Menu and select RUN PROGRAM AT/PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP

This will downgrade the PSP back to 1.50 firmware.

After it has recovered to 1.50 firmware go HERE to update to 3.52 M33-4.

Then go HERE to finish updating to 3.71 M33-4 custom firmware.
