I have a problem. My DVD drive constantly reboots when I use it for writing or installing programs. It reads just fine, I can copy files from a DVD and install from the HD. However, I cannot use the programs in the subject line once the appropriate files are on the HD. I did a search, but couldn't find anything.

Any suggestions would be helpful. It will be a while before I get a new DVD player.

Thanks

I'm lost as to how your question relates to your title of DVDDecrypter/DVDFab?

Sorry, in other words. I get a DVD Disc that I wish to backup. Since my DVD player doesn't write, I copy the files from the disc to the HD. How do I use the above programs when the files are on the HD? The above programs don't want to look for the files on a HD, they want to look for them on a disc.

Thanks

It still is confusing for me(but again, is just me)!
How did you copy the movies to the hard drive? If the burner does not burn, what do you plan on doing? DVD Fab HD Decrypter will load from a HDD folder.

Once the disc is backed up onto the HDD, the proggies have a function "browse", and you manually find the correct file ( the one u backed up )

Navigate to where you saved the DVD:

My question is since you already have the DVD ripped to the HDD, why do you want to use DVD Decrypter or DVDFab HD Decrypter?

DVDFab has no purpose unless you paid for it. You can use DVD Decrypter to burn (switch to write mode), but Imgburn is an improved version of the write half of DVD Decrypter (DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated in 4 years).

At this point you want to use:
1. DVDshrink to reduce the size to fit on SL DVD
2. Imgburn to create .iso/burn DVD
3. VLC to watch movie on PC (works with files and .iso)
and/or
4. Daemon Tools to mount .iso file to watch movie with other programs like Nero Showtime.

I copy the files from the DVD using copy/paste. I then put the files into a temp directory. In order (I think) to get the files onto a backup DVD, I still need to decrypt the files, right?

Problem was, the two programs wouldn't point to the HDD, even when using the browse button to look for them.

Thanks

I don't know for sure, but I don't think that method will work.

Instead of copying/pasting the DVD files to the HDD, use DVD Decryter or DVDFab HD Decrypter to Decrypt the DVD and put the files on your HDD.

That was the problem, I was unable to write files to the HDD. Copy them yes, but write them no. I suppose I just have to wait for a new burner.

Thanks all for the comments and answers.

No, you used a decrypter to get your files onto your HDD. So now you have two choices, 1. burn them to a disc (which you don't have a burner) or 2. Watch the movie from your HDD.

Uhhh guys your kinda missing the point here...

"Since my DVD player doesn't write"
Well then you CAN'T backup your DVDs mate.

Without a burner your not going to be able to burn onto a DVD. All you can do is play them off your HD, which is a big waste of space and not a practical way to back up DVDs.

If you'd like you can transcode your DVD's to VCD or SVCD and burn that onto a CD, if your drive is a CD burner at least. Otherwise, there's not much you can do buddy...

We got that point, buddy, what we didn't get is the copy/paste part to the HDD and then do the decrypting.
