Alrite...
Im in the same pickle as all these guys here..
I have a Special edition HP pavillion dv2500 laptop (250gig. intel centrino duo processor T5250, 1.5 ghz, 2gig ram and integrated graphics intel 965 Express Chipset family ..)
I also have a 50 inch plasma TV model 50PC3d-UE
Now both of these have S video, VGA, and hdmi compatibility...
I understand that to get the best quality I would need an hdmi cable..but I just have the svideo cable for now.

I plugged in the cable to the tv and the laptop but my tv looks like its not even recognizin the cable. My laptops screen goes balck for two seconds and at one point it even showed some screen that said what I want to do with this and I put mirror the screen but nothing happened.
I still can`t see my laptop on the tv.I even played around on the tv to set it to componenet but it still doesnt show anything .By the way Im running on windows vista. Also the cable is s-componenet on both ends. Thats about all info I can think of. If you could help me out plz do. thxn in adavnce

Are you sure Intel integrated graphics is compatible with HDMI? Last time I checked it wasn't...

Hmm, interesting, that's rare for a PC with integrated graphics.
As for S-Video to component, that's a standard def system, so you may have to enable a setting on the TV and/or graphics card to recognise it.
(Max res 853x480)

Well yes, but typically you can only send standard definition TV signals through S-Video, so you'll have to use 853x480 or 640x480 for the TV. Does the TV appear as a second monitor in your display settings?

There's usually a button combination you can press to get both the screens to work at once. Fn and one of the F keys I believe.

Well you can easily do that by clicking on the second screen and checking off the "extend the desktop onto this monitor" I think thats what ur telling me to do..but just for curiosity, what does the "fn" stand for, function? and where is that key?

Heh, didn't think so. Nonetheless it should still work fine using S-Video. Try a direct S-Video cable though, don't use an adapter over component.

The Fn Key is present on pretty much all laptops, beside the Ctrl or Alt key usually. Maybe yours doesn't have one...

On a side note... those with LCD tv's should check there users manaual to make sure what the limitations are for resolution.

You can cook the tv if you have the rez set to high !

Only mention since it was in bold letters in the manual for the Sony HD LCD we have !

Also doing some reading... Intel intergrated chipsets are a pain in the butt to setup to TV. Might want to consider some sort of sling box to save on the hassle.
