ok thx, i can buy a whole computer but i can change the parts of it in the store. About that Radeon HD 3850, it's almost thesame like Nvidia 8800 GT? but i heard that the AMD breaks down alot faster than an intel. and i heard from a computer guy that i should use AMD with ATI together or Nvidia with Intel together. i would like to buy a 8800 GT but i don't know what motherboard i should use then. if i would take the 8800 GT with an intel one, how much would it be if i got this stuff in my computer and replace the graphic card and motherboard in it :

AMD Athlon64-X2 5000+
2 GB DDR2 Pc 800
HDD 320 GB 16 MB
DVD - Rewriter
PCIE VGA X1050 - 512 MB
this all together costs me 845 euros with 22 inch screen, keyboard, mouse, antivirus and vista.
i need a price with the changed components.

I hope that means specifying it from scratch - modifying a prebuilt PC is not advisable.

Not really, the HD3870 is more a rival to that, but the 3850 is much cheaper, yet still very fast.

there's not really a lot of truth in that. It's more a case of AMD CPUs last 10 years versus Intel's 15 or 20. In the normal lifespan of a PC, that makes no difference.

Not necessary. You can use any combination.

Don't do it that way. I mean it, really don't modify an existing PC, have the whole thing prebuilt from scratch. The components in prebuilds are low quality, the cases are usually badly designed, the power supplies are useless.

if i take the existing computer like i did in the post before, and i ask to not place the graphic card in it but a radeon 3870 or Nvidia 8800GT and can i keep the amd motherboard then?
then i mean these parts :

No, because the PSU that comes with it will be rubbish, and unable to run those graphics cards.

yes i can but i thought that was a core 2 duo, appearantly not.. but forget about that stuff i mentioned before, how much would it cost to have a computer with 19 inch screen and normal keyboard (got mouse) with a Nvidia 8600 GT, with the matching components that make i can run my computer smoothly in normal settings in games. core 2 duo, maybe quadcore if that is max 850 euros.

I don't know any euro websites. If you can get me a link I can tell you what you can expect for your money.
If you convert it it comes out to 1200 dollars.

A widescreen 19"? I'd try and go for a 20" if you can, the difference in resolution is huge. You can always go with an E2180 rather than the 6750. Either are better than the Athlon.

Ok the 20inch is like 30 bucks more. Still in budget.
Don't know how much the prices in Europe are though. Are the taxes still high? Or is that just the UK?

It's pretty much all of europe. Some countries are better than others, the UK's not great, but it's not the worst. I think there's 25% VAT in one country in europe, I forget which. 17.5% is bad enough.

the computer you are suggesting is within my budget so i'll think about it (820 euros=1200 dollar)
well i better edit my first message bcuz im not going to build it on my own anymore but i just want to know what parts i should use if im getting a gaming computer, so i think Nvidia 8600 GT or 8800 GT should be the best option for me (i've been surfing around for information like i do here)
But about the VAT, im going to buy the parts in a store so i don't need any shipping to Belgium (this is where i live btw) or at least i won't have to pay it.

E6750 is a Core 2 Duo. The 8600GT is not that great for gaming, but since you are going to have VAT and stuff I don't think you would be able to buy much better than a 8600GT for your budget.

I'm thinking about a compromise with my parents, they pay the computer for me and i pay them back once i got the money. so i could go for a better graphic card like 8800 GT (this should be a good graphic card for gaming, tell me if im wrong!!)

The 8800GT is very good. Many of us around here prefer the HD 3870 though.

Nah i've been surfing around and they say it's not as good as the 8800 GT, same price but less quality like you got in the 8800 GT. but i don't think i need a graphic card of 400 euros to play wolfenstein, counterstrike, ... but i'll be fine with the 8800GT i guess..

Umm, the 3870 is CHEAPER. Look around our forums and you will see most of us hold the opinion that while the 8800GT is a BIT faster, the 3870 has better image quality.

Well, im not going to play crysis on high settings.. I just want a good video card that has no lagg, or hardly no lagg at all to play with.
cuz im sick of playing with 15-20 fps on wolfenstein, ppl with a decent card got like 80-100 fps..
Well, the ppl i already contacted for some advice and they said (almost all of them) advised me an Nvidia card 8800 GT or 8800 GTS if my budget is higher. But i'll see how it turns out, if ppl really suggest the radeon 3870 above the 8800 GT, then im taking the 3870.

The HD3870 is hands down a better product than the 8800GT. However a lot of people prefer the 8800GT because it's marginally faster, and I mean marginally. The 3870 offers newer technology, better visuals and reduced power consumption under load. Not to mention it's much cheaper (in europe) than the 8800GT as well. It's also quieter...

You're not going to see a difference between 60FPS and a 100FPS, but you will see a difference between quality. Take your pick. Anyway if you were to compare both the card you would probably get something like this:
3870: 90 FPS
880GT: 100 FPS
