Hi, I just recently replaced my drives as the old ones were starting to fail and have been having problems with nero recode, I get about 50% into copying a none copywrited disc when I get the message failed to read %. This happens on a number of discs sometimes a disc will copy but sometimes I get the message. I have included a log and any help would be appreciated

I would suggest you use a ripper(DVD Decrypter for example) to copy the disc to Hard Drive first and then do the burn. If your burners are on the same cable is hard to do the Burn-At-Once. If your discs were originally burned on poor quality media, or too fast, too close to the edge of the disc, they might be difficult to rip, that's why Nero errors when reading.

Hi, thank you for getting back to me. I'm not sure but I dont think its the dirty disc thing, as sometimes the disc will copy and sometimes it wont. Also I only usually burn at 6x or 4x and not always to the edge. It tends to happen on discs where the film or whatever, was in two parts so about the 50% mark. On a good burn when it gets to the 50% mark or the split in the film the drives usually go quiet for a couple of seconds and then gets going again, but when the error occurs it stays quiet for about a minute and then I get the error.I tried to make a copy from a copy of the bad disc, it made 1 copy fine, but when I tried to copy again I got the error. If you could give me more info on the cable I would be very grateful. I have always used just one cable, on my old drives and the new, and I dont think I would know where to plug a second cable in? Thank you again

Sara82,
Next time you post an error log you need to remove the serial number it lists. If you don't other folks will use it ;)

To plug in a second cable, you would look on your motherboard for another IDE channel, so you would plug in the second cable into a buss that looks like the one that you already have the first cable plugged into . You should also swap the cable for an 80 wire one( unless you already have one).
Reduce the burn speed to X4 so your reader can keep up.
Un-check burn-at-once and let Nero cache the info on the hard disk first.

Thank you for getting back to me, I think you could have been right about the problem being burning to close to the edge on certain media. I never had a problem before, but I suppose maybe the new drives are more picky.
I dont have a problem as such but when I was trying to sort out the issues I was having I installed nerovision 3.1.0.21 which I think included recode. I really liked the way recode worked in this version because it started burning straight away rather than taking ages for the discs to spin up, the problem with this though was that I found sometimes nerovision wouldn't start when I wanted it to, I couldn't even close it in taskmanager and had to reboot to get it going. So I then installed nero 6.6.1.4 and now opening nerovision is reliable but I get the slow spin up. I was just wondering is there a way around it.
Thank you for your time
