i have my somputer connected to my home theater amp by a cord with a 1/4'' headphone jack that i plug into the green output hole in my computer which i believe is the front speakers out jack, and the other end is two rca ends that are hooked into my amp's aux port. whenever i try to listen to music from my computer to my amp i get a wierd cracking noise from the speakers. nothing else i use through the amp does this (dvd, xbox, cable box). could i have a bad sound card or do i have the settings messed up somewhere. if it is the soundcard can someone recommend a good one to me? my computer is VERY loud as well. i took it apart and tried to tell what was making the extremely loud hum and i believe it is the power supply. is this possible to change to a quiet one. if so any ideas on a good one to get. thanks for the advise!

As for the crackling audio, check the individual cable you're using and the specific input on your amp. If they all check out, it's either the front panel connector on your case, or your sound card. Try using the sound port on the back of your PC instead of the front. If the same issue, you may need a new sound card.
