This is a new problem that just cropped up. Before this week, my CD-R/RW worked fine. Everytime I try to burn a file unto a CD-R, it supposedly goes okay until I try to read the contents in my CD drive. Whether it's a text file, multimedia file, it won't work. I'm told that I can't access it and in the worst case scenario, it crashes my CD drive so I have to reboot in order to get the Cd out of the drive. I have no clue what the problem is. I have a Philips CD-R/RW that is 8x4x32 and am using Hotburn.

Any help would be great

I can't help you directly, but maybe you can learn something from my experience.

I use DirectCD with my burners. It needs to be running in order for me to eject the CDR/W media.

I learned the hard way, to never leave a CDR/W disc in the drive like it was a "hard disk". Apparently during bootup/shutdown, some info is written to the media. Then when I try to access it later, I found that some/all of my data is GONE !!!!!

I was reading your problem that you have with your Phillips CD-RW...its not the first time that i have heard about problems with Phillips drives. In fact my Philips CD-RW has crashed totally (My computer now will not even recognize the drive and the drive will not open or function in any way) and this is why i am searching for other issues and solutions that others are encountering. I suggest if you still have a warranty with Phillips for the drive that you take it back for a refund...Hope this was of some help.

I finally found a solution that I hope will last. I needed to upgrade the firmware of my CD-R/RW. Even though I had previously not had a problem using 700MB/80min disks. It seems my firmware needed to be upgraded in order to use the 700MB/80min disks I had recently purchased. I am no longer having a problem (knock on wood).
If anyone had this problem I got the flashtool at

Thanks for your answers.
