as heard on tech sites new series of cards are to be released all over this year. but the main question is ATI taking over the market with their 3870X2 in the price range of $300 taking out all of the 8800 GTS, Ultra, GTX video cards. knowing that the 3870X2 is coming out on January 28 with the price range vs. performance stats will it dominate???

3870 X2 specs-

8800 Ultra OC specs-

comparable? ATI 640 stream processors vs. nvidia's 128??

get the 3870 x2. it is cheaper and better performance than the ultra. here are some benchmarks.

nothing stays at the top of the market for long. the nvidia g2x might be better. i have heard that i will be 30% faster than an ultra. but the 3870 x2 will last for a while. it will be able to play all games for the next few years. unless every game is like crysis.

The 3870X2 is typically $450 not $300...
It's comparable to the 8800 Ultra and should beat it in some games. if I were you though, I'd save money and buy a single HD3870 and wait until something proper comes out and then buy that using the $200 you saved not getting the X2 earlier...
