What are the settings for manually overclocking my core 2 quad Q6600 to its highest overclock values possible? Also is it safe? Will it damage my components?

Here are my PC specs:

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula Special Edition
RAM: 4.00 GB
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit edition with SP1 RC1
VGA Card: ASUS EAH3870 512MB
PSU/Case: Antec 500watt
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600 3.0 GHZ
Fans: Cpu fan and Chasis fan
Hard Drive: 500GB 7200 RPM

you cant just use someone else settings for overclocking. not all parts are created equal so the exact same part may not overclock as high as another. you will have to see how far it can go by increasing the fsp a few mhz at a time. if you dont know what you are doing you can check out the overclocking thread.

yeah, the Q6600 is fast enough - just leave it. If you dont have a aftermarket cooler, then overclocking to 2.6Ghz could be the limit. The stock HSF that intel packed with the Q6600 has trouble maintaining the stock temps anyways.
