Any help appreciated......
I'll keep this short to see if anyone can help me.
I keep getting failed burns on CD-R's with Nero 6.
It fails everytime (with the occasional exception). However I am using the exacty same drive at exactly the same speed and the exact same media as I have for several years and it has only started doing this recently. All the settings both in Nero and on my PC are the same. I burn at 16X to avoid any speed issues. But I am losing discs at a frightening rate.
The odd thing is iI can burn DVDs with no problem.
I have tried reinstalling Nero several times and it doesnt seem to make any difference.
Can someone help me.
Is it my burner? Is it on its last legs (and if so why does it still burn DVDs).
If this is the case how do I check whether my burning is working properly?
Or is it that it just needs cleaning. Its an internal burner so whats the best way to do this?
Is it anything else I should look for (a firmware update on the burner - but why would I need that if it used to work fine and nothing has changed)?
Please please help! I can post logs if needed but Im not sure they help.
Many thanks.

It is possible that the CD burning part is dying, and still be able to burn DVDS.
For cleaning, buy a cleaning CD/DVD disc.
Post an Nero error log here. Should find the error log in Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt
Piss me off, and I Will ignore You!

Sure sounds as if the burner is going south. Can you borrow an external USB one to see if it will burn with your pc. That way you'll know it's the burner and not a software or pc problem. There are two different lasers for cd and dvd burns.
