Yes, you need to ensure that region free is enabled using the config disk. Also you really need to make sure your system is updated to 3.1e preferably using the internet. Do NOT accept any updates from NTSC disks. Your Wiikey firmware should be at least 1.9b, 1.9g if you wanna play SMG. Read all the appropriate stickied threads at the top of this section in order to make sure you understand what you need to do.

No. Different games from different regions have different firmware structures on them, so there is always a risk.

However your best bet is using brickblocker or regionfrii, as they should remove the update. This has been known in rare cases to mess up the ISO backup file, but its better than a bricked Wii.

You should try and use same region games, as there is no risk of bricking your Wii this way.

I am not an expert in this field, but I know from other experiences that Regionfrii is better works.

I never even knew there was a friiregion...

Heres a good thread about bricking the Wii and info about it. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/9/523776

As I said I'm not an expert on this field, but I am fairly sure that you can apply both to be on the safe side of things.

I think that you have to apply regionfrii first, then apply Brick Blocker.

Also, should regionfrii fail, I think just applying Brick Blocker will work, but I would apply both to be on the safe side.
