Hiya pieman,
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you are stuffed...
you cannot revert to a previous firmware revision without doing the following:
find someone with a 105 with older firmware.
find someone with a plcc programmer.
strip the loaned drive down.
remove the plcc firmware.
copy the older version to the plcc programmer.
strip YOUR drive down.
remove the plcc firmware.
overwrite with the older firmware.
rebuild BOTH drives & hope for the best.
As you have probably guessed, this is generally beyond the resources of the average PC enthusiast (google for the costs of the correct plcc programmers).
IF you want to check what I say about not being able to revert the firmware, go have a look at:

sorry matey...

You can revert to older versions of the firmware. Try flashing your drive with 1.31, or get the rpc 1 version of the 1.33 which works great with mine. I have reverted in the past from this site:
Its an executable file for downloading the firmware to revert back to a lower one. It only downloads from version 1.33

I falshed it with the downgrade which reverted me back to the previous one. Then i reflashed it with the RPC 1 version of 1.33. Try flashing the rpc1 version just.

Hey guys,
if you get a result on this, can we get posted a full step-by-step, including software used etc, coz this could be USEFULL (if it works).
I intend to duplicate the procedure, and at each step remove the firmware & do an analysis to see what each change is.
I know I can achieve the same result with my method & kit, but if a simpler/reliable software method is available, I would rather use that (less time/hassle).

Yeah, help us Oriphus.
pieman needs this and I would really like to have a simple method of reverting firmware.
It can take over 4 hours to strip 2 drives, copy firmware, rebuild 2 drives & test:
with a software method I could just flash & test, saving 3 hours and avoiding the risks of killing a good drive (removing, copying & replacing firmware).
In the immortal words of Noddy Holder from Slade,
It's CHRISTMAAAASSS!!!!

Hiya herbsman,
nice link, could be handy, appreciate the effort you made in finding it.
As to be expected with an old thread, some of the links are 404's, but I shall investigate further - once crimbo is done 'n' dusted.
Of particular interest is the /F switch mentioned (I am tempted to dis-assemble the executable to see if I can work out what it does & how).
